I love watching MadMen. The attention to detail is amazing and fully engages my memory of the 60’s and early 70’s. What ever happened to toaster covers? Or the over-sized wooden spoon and fork set that graced kitchens across America?
Even before my addiction to the Mad Men series, I have enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane. Scoping-out classic cars with my husband has become an enjoyable pastime.
But let’s get real. None of us would think of driving a ’69 camaro or any other vintage auto to work on a daily basis.
The classic car is no longer functional or practical.
So, why are we still using outdated personality tools?
Like our vintage autos and decor, they have had their day, as explained in the Psychology Today blog by Adam Grant.
Thankfully, there are improved tools. Tools that provide us with more than a generic description which too often reduce us to a color, a set of letters, or animal type.
As leaders and members of teams, we need the most up-to-date tools to help us grow professionally. It is imperative that we utilize modern-day personality assessment tools based on the rigors of scientific empirical research to aid our development,
The BIG 5 tools of today, along with the modern advances of technology, do just that. No more being reduced to linear results. We now can enjoy detailed graphs and printouts of our behavior, our strengths, our possible weaknesses, our communication styles along with sophisticated suggestions for development.
For this reason, I have selected the suite of tools provided by Lumina Learning. They inspire and they help uncover brilliance with the depth you deserve.
I appreciate the personality assessment tools of the past, vintage autos, and decor. I respect their contribution to the field of psychology. However, I recommend a move forward that honors the brilliance of you with an updated personality assessment.
